You’ve knitted your share of scarves in the stockinette stitch. You’ve purled your way through dozens of hats. Right. Now it’s time to get more involved and use the two knitting stitches in combination—for a richer, more textured collection of greater variety:

( ) = repeat the stitching instructions inside ( )

Diamond Lattice Pattern Stitch

For a crossed stitches knitting design which is raised and which has some elasticity, try the Diamond Lattice Stitch

  • For the beginning (cast-on) row: multiple of 14 sitches plus 1
  • Row 1: k1 (yo, k2,p3, p3tog), p3, k2, yo, k1
  • Row 2: p4, k7, p3, end w/p1
  • Row 3: k1, (k1, yo, k2, p2, p3tog , p2, k2, yo, k2)
